Why Nasdaq Rebounded as US Futures Rose Before the Midterms – NAS100 Analysis
Key Takeaways
- The Nasdaq Composite fell 1.07% to 25,164.32 on 2 November 2026, and the Nasdaq 100 closed about 10% below its October peak, a technical correction. 1,2
- The Nasdaq price on Vantage’s NAS100 feed reached 28,150.65 at 10:14 (GMT+8) on 3 November, near the top of an Asia-session range of roughly 28,050 to 28,155.
- On the 1-minute chart, RSI (14) read 60.57 at the cut-off, down from about 70 at the previous session high.
The Nasdaq 100 closed Monday 10% below its October peak, in technical correction territory, after a gauge of US chipmakers stretched a three-day slide to 12%. 2 NAS100 bounced anyway. It reached 28,150.65 at 10:14 (GMT+8) on 3 November 2026, about 100 points off its Asia-session low, while South Korea’s Kospi fell more than 2%. 2
Checked the Nasdaq stock market today and saw red on one screen, green on another? Both were right. This piece unpacks why NAS100 today, and the Nasdaq index today, sits above Monday’s mood, and why momentum looks less convinced than price. We watched the 1-minute chart so you could have breakfast.
Instrument Snapshot: As of 10:14 (GMT+8) on 3 November 2026, Vantage NAS100 CFD traded at 28,150.65, roughly 0.36% above its 09:00 low. For anyone following NAS100 live or a Nasdaq 100 live chart, the 50-period average sat near 28,132.
Quick Answer: Why Is Nasdaq Up Today
NAS100 rose about 100 points in Tuesday’s Asia session after the Nasdaq 100 closed Monday in a 10% correction. US stock futures gained as some investors looked past the chip-led slide, and RSI recovered from oversold levels, but momentum lagged price at the new high.

The quick answer covers the what. The chip slide behind it explains the why.
Chip Slide Left the Nasdaq 100 in Correction
Start with the weekend Nasdaq picture. On Friday 30 October, the Nasdaq Composite fell 2.9% to 25,437, its steepest one-day drop in nearly five months, and closed October 5.3% lower, its weakest month since March 2025. 3
Monday tried a rebound and handed it back, with the Composite swinging from up 1.4% to a 1.07% loss. 1 Marvell Technology (NASDAQ:MRVL) fell almost 13% and Lumentum (NASDAQ:LITE) 18% on a $115 billion merger, and Oracle (NYSE:ORCL) lost 8% on new AI funding plans. 1 The Nasdaq news today page tracks the movers.
Two strategists described the same shift in different words. Hank Calenti, global markets strategist at SMBC, said expectations built into tech prices “are being challenged and are now resetting”. 9 Joe Tigay, a portfolio manager at Equity Armor Investments, said the AI trade is moving into “the ‘show me’ phase”. 10
Rates sit underneath it all. The Federal Reserve held the federal funds rate range at 3.75% to 4.00% on 28 October in a 10-2 vote, with both dissenters preferring a quarter-point rise. 4 The US 10-year yield stood at 4.913% early on Tuesday, 5 a level that has tended to weigh on growth-heavy indices.
Then came the after-hours earnings news today. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) posted record September-quarter revenue of $114.5 billion, 6 yet its shares traded 2.65% lower after hours, with Palantir (NASDAQ:PLTR) down 2.94%, according to a live blog citing CNBC. 7 Vantage has not independently verified these figures.
That is a heavy backdrop. The Asia-session chart did not read it that way.
NAS100 Chart: Asia Bounce Before the Cash Open

The Nasdaq chart today, a 1-minute NAS100 TradingView chart with times converted to GMT+8, splits neatly in two. Before 09:00, price stepped down to near 28,052 at 08:43 and retested 28,050 at 09:00. RSI (14) on the TradingView setup used for this analysis dipped to roughly 27, below the 30 line often read as oversold.
The second half went the other way. Strong candles from 09:06 lifted price to around 28,130, and by 09:30 it touched about 28,151. On the Nasdaq index chart, the 50-period moving average crossed above the 200-period around 09:41, and the 09:43 dip held near 28,105.
Later dips held near 28,120 and 28,123, a run of higher lows into the cut-off. The first half of the chart read like Monday’s close; the second half read as if it had skipped the news.
So why the bounce? RSI had stretched into oversold territory, and US stock futures gained as some investors looked past the decline, 2 with Nasdaq 100 futures up 0.3% by Monday evening in New York. 7 Morgan Stanley strategists also struck a calmer note, calling the broader US correction in its “final innings” and the midterms a possible end to a major overhang. 8
Timing matters too. The move came before the US cash open at 22:30 (GMT+8), and while the chip-heavy Kospi was falling. A pre-open move is a bit like a rehearsal without the full cast: it shows where prices are being set, before most of the volume arrives.
Price won back every point it lost before 09:00. Momentum is a separate question.
NAS100 Technical Analysis: New High, Weaker Momentum
At 10:13 (GMT+8), NAS100 pushed to roughly 28,155, a touch above the 09:30 high. RSI (14) read 60.57 at the cut-off, against roughly 70 at the 09:30 high, with its own average at 53.43, according to the TradingView setup used for this analysis.
Price set a new Asia-session high at 10:13 (GMT+8). RSI finished about nine points short of where it stood at the last one.
Chart readers call this a negative divergence. In Nasdaq 100 technical analysis on a 1-minute chart, it often reflects a slower pace of gains rather than a turn, and it can clear within a handful of candles. RSI measures the pace of a climb, not its altitude.
Our Nasdaq analysis: a market that steadied after two heavy sessions without showing much conviction yet. That read weakens if RSI returns above 70 alongside a new session high. It holds while RSI stays below that level and price stays near the 50-period average around 28,132.
Those conditions sit within about 25 points of each other, so the levels below are tightly packed.

That 105-point range, roughly 0.37%, can widen quickly once polls and earnings are in play. ING analysts called Tuesday “nothing more than the day ahead of a much bigger day”, 5 a polite way of saying the calendar is crowded. Fresh Nasdaq 100 news sits under NAS100 news.
What to Watch

- US Cash Open, 3 November: 22:30 (GMT+8), the first full New York session to price Apple’s and Palantir’s results.
- AMD Q3 Results, 4 November: Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) reports after the US close on 3 November, with its call at 06:00 (GMT+8). 11
- Midterm Results and Treasury Refunding, 4 November: US polls close on the evening of 3 November (ET), which is the morning of 4 November in GMT+8; ING also flagged Wednesday’s quarterly refunding announcement. 5
- US Nonfarm Payrolls (October), 6 November: 21:30 (GMT+8). 12
The wider tape sits under stock market news today. Before those events land, three questions keep coming up.
Nasdaq Today: Three Quick Answers
Why is Nasdaq down today on some screens?
The cash Nasdaq Composite Index and Nasdaq 100 index still show Monday’s close until New York reopens. 1 NAS100 trades through the Asia session and was higher at the cut-off, hence red on some screens and green on others.
What is the difference between the Nasdaq 100 and the Nasdaq Composite?
The Nasdaq 100 tracks about 100 of the largest non-financial Nasdaq companies; the Composite is the broad Nasdaq market index. NAS100, also shown as US100, follows the Nasdaq 100, so US100 analysis and US100 live quotes describe the same market.
Is this a Nasdaq forecast for tomorrow?
No. There is no Nasdaq forecast, Nasdaq 100 forecast, NAS100 forecast, US100 forecast, NAS100 prediction, or Nasdaq prediction here, and no forecast for stock market tomorrow either. This NAS100 analysis covers what the chart already showed and the dated events above.
That leaves the risk picture around tonight’s events.
Gap Risk Around Election Results
Back to the contradiction: a Nasdaq 100 in correction and a NAS100 that rose anyway. By the cut-off, price had reclaimed the session high and RSI had not. Whether the bounce carries weight is more likely to show once US cash volume arrives at 22:30 (GMT+8).
Index prices can gap when news lands outside regular hours, and both the election results and AMD’s report arrive in that window. A Stop Loss limits losses to a planned size in normal conditions, but in a gap it can fill at a worse price than the level set.
Leverage works in both directions. At 1:20 leverage, for example, a 0.37% index move, about the width of this morning’s range, equals 7.4% of the margin committed to a position, whether the move goes for or against it. Position size relative to account equity decides how far any single move reaches.
