Why Nike Stock Slid to a 12-Year Low as BofA Downgraded It Ahead of Q1 Earnings – NKE CFD Analysis
Nike Inc (stock symbol NKE) has beaten earnings-per-share (EPS) estimates four quarters running[1]. The share price still sits at its lowest level in roughly 12 years[2]. Nike stock closed 30 September at $35.40, its lowest close of 2026, with the latest Nike stock quote at $35.53 overnight, as of 14:10 (GMT+8) on 1 October 2026[3].
Nike keeps clearing the bar and still losing the race. This piece unpacks why, before first-quarter fiscal 2027 (Q1 FY27) results land after the New York close, at 04:15 (GMT+8) on 2 October[4]. It is not a Nike stock forecast or an NKE stock forecast. Charts are from TradingView and indicative; this is not financial advice.
Why Did Nike Stock Fall to a 12-Year Low?
Nike stock slid to a 12-year low near $35 on a delayed turnaround: Greater China revenue fell 17% currency-neutral last quarter, guidance pointed lower, and Bank of America downgraded it on 25 September, citing weak wholesale demand. Results land at 04:15 (GMT+8) on 2 October.

Lower Highs and a Falling 200-Hour Average Shape the Nike Stock Chart
On the Nike stock chart, the slide looks orderly, not panicked. After the early-April earnings gap, the Nike company stock price spent April to July boxed between roughly $40 and $47.50.
August broke the box. Each rebound since has stalled lower, near $41.50, then $40, then $36.50, ending at the year’s lowest close.
As of 14:10 (GMT+8) on 1 October 2026, price sat below the 50-period moving average at $35.95 and the 200-period at $37.51. The 14-period Relative Strength Index (RSI) on the TradingView setup used for this analysis read 34.79: weak, but well above the 15-to-20 readings of April, June and August.
Price sits at a 12-year low. Momentum does not sit at an extreme.

The chart shows how far Nike has fallen. Analysts disagree sharply on what comes next.
BofA’s $30 Objective vs Jefferies’ $75: A $45 Split Before Results
The latest Nike stock news split Wall Street in two. On 25 September, Bank of America analyst Lorraine Hutchinson cut Nike to Underperform with a $30 price objective, down from $47[5]. Her team noted that “risks are rising” for the turnaround[6].
Jefferies analyst Randal Konik reads it differently. He kept a $75 objective and said Q1 “should show continued progress”[7].
| View | Rating | Price objective | Q1 FY27 expectation |
| Bank of America | Underperform | $30 | Turnaround delayed |
| Jefferies | Positive | $75 | $0.48 EPS; $11.5 billion sales |
| Consensus | Hold | $43 to $46 average | $0.44 EPS; about $11.3 billion revenue |

So why have four beats done so little?
Why Four Earnings Beats Have Not Lifted Nike Stock
Here is the awkward part: the beats are real. Last quarter’s $0.72 EPS included a one-off $0.52 tariff-recovery boost, yet the remaining $0.20 still topped the $0.12 consensus[8]. Revenue is the problem.
Management guided Q1 revenue down by a low-to-mid single-digit percentage[9]. Over 52 weeks, the stock for Nike fell 48.4%, against a 17.2% gain for the S&P 500 and a 6.4% dip for the consumer discretionary fund XLY, a company-specific gap[1].
Nike in stock market terms slipped too, leaving the S&P 100 on 21 September, per Vantage’s NIKE news hub. Options on Nike stocks were pricing an 8.3% move either way, against a 9.34% average across the past four reports[10].
Which leaves the levels, and the clock.

Four real beats did not stop the slide; the Nike Inc stock price appears to have tracked revenue and guidance instead. More in Vantage’s earnings news today, NYSE news, stock market news today, and technical analysis hubs.
A Stop Loss can limit losses to a planned size, but an overnight gap can fill it at a worse price. Nike’s past four reports moved the stock between 4.90% and 15.51%[10].
Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains, and a gap moves a leveraged position by more than the headline percentage. Vantage’s risk management guides cover position sizing against account equity.
