Key Takeaways

  • The Vantage USDINR Contract for Difference (CFD) read 96.289 at 01:46 (UTC) / 09:46 (GMT+8) on 25 September 2026, just under its 96.38 highs.
  • The onshore rupee closed at a one-week low of 95.955 on 24 September, with state-run banks supplying dollars near 96.1
  • The US Federal Reserve (Fed) lifted rates to 3.75%-4% on 16 September; the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) decides on 7 October.5,10

USD INR today sits in a tight band around 96: the Vantage USDINR CFD read 96.289 at 01:46 (UTC) on 25 September 2026, and the onshore rupee opened at 95.90. Brent above $100, a hawkish Fed, and RBI dollar supply near 96 framed the session.

USDINR news today comes down to one stubborn number: 96. Brent crude pushed back above $100, the dollar index sat near a two-month high, and an RBI deputy governor called the rupee’s 13.1% slide an overcorrection.2,4,6

We read the Vantage USDINR CFD on the one-hour chart, with data to 01:46 (UTC) / 09:46 (GMT+8) on 25 September 2026 and news to 07:00 (UTC) / 15:00 (GMT+8). Whether you follow USDINR investing headlines or trade intraday, this is a chart read, not a USDINR prediction or USD INR trend forecast.

Reading the USD INR Chart: A Six-Session Round Trip

The USD INR chart tells a tidy story: a peak near 96.38 on 17 September, a slide to 95.74 on 22 September, then a climb back to 96.38 on 24 September. The last candle before the cut-off closed at 96.289.

Price sat above both one-hour moving averages (MA), the 50-period at 96.06 and the 200-period at 95.96. On the TradingView setup used for this analysis, the 14-period Relative Strength Index (RSI) dipped below 30 on 22 September, touched 70 on 24 September, and read 58.76 at the cut-off.

Oil Above $100 and a Hawkish Federal Reserve Kept Pressure On

For a big crude importer, Brent’s return above $100 on 24 September coincided with the rupee’s slide to a one-week low.1,4 Amit Pabari of CR Forex Advisors put the stakes plainly on 10 September: each $10 on oil can “add roughly $12-15 billion to the annual import bill.” 7

Then there’s the Fed, which voted 12-0 on 16 September for a 25 basis point rise to 3.75%-4%, its first hike since July 2023.5 By 24 September, the dollar index sat around 101.2 and India’s 10-year yield had hit 7.11%, its highest since 21 May.2 Finrex Treasury Advisors’ Anil Kumar Bhansali had flagged the mix on 15 September: “US yields, India yields, and oil prices remained on the upside.” 8

The Reserve Bank of India’s Line at 96 and the Overcorrection Call

The RBI hasn’t been shy. Dealers said state-run banks, likely acting for the central bank, supplied dollars that kept the rupee from crossing 96 on 24 September. 1 Deputy Governor Poonam Gupta then put the rupee’s fall from 31 March 2025 to 16 September 2026 at 13.1%, framing it as temporary, “or shall one say its overcorrection.” 6

Not everyone reads the tape that way. HDFC Securities’ Dilip Parmar said on 24 September that “near-term momentum for spot rupee remains resiliently firm,” with 95.55 and 96.30 on his radar.2

USD to INR Today: Onshore Rate vs CFD Quote

Here’s the bit most headlines skip: today’s USD to INR onshore open was 95.90, while the CFD read 96.289 earlier that morning. Different quotes, different measurements, and neither is a USD to INR prediction.

What to Watch: USD/INR Dates Traders Are Monitoring

No USD INR forecast or USD to INR forecast here, just the dates our forex news today and currency trading news feeds track:

  • US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE), 30 September: August inflation data at 12:30 (UTC) / 20:30 (GMT+8), the first since the hike.
  • US Nonfarm Payrolls, 2 October: September jobs data at 12:30 (UTC) / 20:30 (GMT+8).
  • RBI Policy Decision, 7 October: Monetary Policy Committee meets 5 to 7 October, with the repo rate at 5.25%.10

As of 25 September, USD/INR had covered a 95.74 to 96.38 range in six sessions. A Stop Loss is one way to limit losses to a planned size, though our forex risk management guide covers gap and slippage risk.

Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains, and USD/INR CFDs are leveraged products. Sizing positions relative to account equity matters more when central bank activity and US data share the same range.

RISK WARNING: CFDs are complex financial instruments and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You should ensure you fully understand the risks involved and carefully consider whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money before trading.
