Vantage Updated Mon, 2026 October 5 02:40

Key Takeaways

  • EUR/CHF lost 1.33% on 1 October 2026. 3
  • At the cut-off, price sat between its H1 50-period and 200-period moving averages.

The script said dollar. The US Dollar Index touched 101.99, a 2026 high, and the 10-year Treasury yield hit 5.34%, its highest since 2002. 1 Vantage USDCHF CFD fell anyway, sliding from 0.8382 to 0.8292 in about eight hours. As of 01:44 (UTC) / 09:44 (GMT+8) on 2 October 2026, it traded at 0.83216.

So who rewrote the script? The franc did, and that changes how the chart reads into Friday’s US Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP).

USDCHF fell 1.07% from a 16-month high of 0.8382 to 0.8292 on 1 October 2026, even as the US Dollar Index hit a 2026 high. EUR/CHF lost 1.33%, pointing to franc demand. Price now sits below its H1 50-period average and above its 200-period average.

USDCHF Chart: Nearly 60% of a Weekly Rally Gone in Eight Hours

USD/CHF climbed from near 0.8230 on 24 September to 0.8382 around 06:00 (UTC) on 1 October, its highest since May 2025. 1 It then unwound in two legs, after Swiss inflation data and again in the 13:00 and 14:00 (UTC) candles, slicing through the 50-period moving average.

That erased roughly 59% of the advance (0.0090 of 0.0152). The tell came from the cross: EUR/CHF lost 1.33% on the session. 3 When the franc firms against the euro and the dollar together, the franc is the story.

USDCHF H1 “USDCHF TradingView Chart: Reversal From 0.8382 Holds Above the 200-Period Moving Average” (TradingView, https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/USDCHF/) Accessed on 2 October 2026, chart as of 09:44 (GMT+8). Data indicative, for informational purposes only.

So what lifted the franc on a day built for the dollar?

Swiss Inflation at 1% Met Fading Federal Reserve Hike Odds

Swiss inflation rose to 1% in September from 0.8%, inside the Swiss National Bank’s (SNB) 0% to 2% range. 1 The SNB held at 0% on 24 September and stands ready to act in currency markets. 4

The US dollar CHF story got murkier. US manufacturing data missed at 54.5 while prices paid jumped to 77.9, 2 and CME FedWatch odds of an October Federal Reserve (Fed) hike slid to about 36% from 70% days earlier. 1

Analysts read it differently. Societe Generale’s Jan Groen said “an October hike remains on the table”, 8 while Rabobank’s RaboResearch team is “adding a rate hike in December 2026”. 9 Writing on euro stress that morning, Commerzbank’s Michael Pfister and Tatha Ghose saw “little sign” of a flight into the franc. 10

The sharper leg lined up with the 14:00 (UTC) US manufacturing release as the 10-year yield eased to about 5.30%; 2 no wire we reviewed named one trigger.

The chart settles the bigger question.

Is USDCHF Bullish or Bearish After the 0.8292 Low?

Both, depending on the clock. Price closed below the 50-period moving average at 0.83404, so the short-term trend cracked. Yet the low formed roughly 10 pips above the rising 200-period average, at 0.82886 by the cut-off, so the longer trend held.

Search it as USDCHF, USD/CHF, USD / CHF, or USD.CHF; it asks how many francs one dollar is worth. At the cut-off, the dollar to CHF rate was 0.8322, so the USD in CHF value of USD100 was CHF83.22. Flip the CHF dollar quote to CHFUSD (CHF USD) and CHF to USD read about 1.2017.

Friday’s data is the next check on that dollar CHF read.

What to Watch Into Friday’s Non-Farm Payrolls

  • US Non-Farm Payrolls, 2 October, 20:30 (GMT+8): Investing.com lists an 89,000 forecast against 162,000 in August. 5
  • Unemployment and Wages, 2 October, 20:30 (GMT+8): Forecasts sit at 4.1% unemployment and 3.1% wage growth. 6
  • Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), 27 to 28 October: The meeting behind the 36% hike pricing.

So who rewrote the script? Mostly the franc. The read holds while price sits between 0.8289 and 0.8340; an hourly close outside that band after NFP would weaken it. Our forex news today and currency trading news hubs track related pairs.

NFP can widen spreads within minutes. A Stop Loss limits a loss to a planned size but may fill worse in fast moves; our forex risk management guide covers correlated USD exposure.

Leverage amplifies losses as well as returns: at 1:100, a 1% move equals the full margin on a position, so Thursday’s 1.07% drop would exceed it. Position size relative to equity sets that exposure.

RISK WARNING: CFDs are complex financial instruments and carry a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. You should ensure you fully understand the risks involved and carefully consider whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money before trading.
