Nike To Release its Earnings Report This Week

September 22,2022 15:43:43

Soon after the tennis legend Roger Federer announced his retirement, Nike is ready to release its quarterly earnings on September 29, 2022. The company’s stock has dropped close to 35% year-to-date.

What’s the relationship between Federer and Nike?

The tennis star has been Nike’s brand ambassador from 1994 to 2018. But Federer parted ways with the apparel and footwear giant after earning approximately $10 million per year in the past 10 years from the deal. After that, Federer signed a deal with Japan’s Uniqlo, earning around $30 million annually, significantly higher than the Nike deal.

What are the earnings estimates for Nike?

Analysts are expecting a decline in earnings from Nike. The company is expected to post quarterly earnings of $0.93 per share, which would mark a year-over-year decline of around 20%. Analysts do however expect a 0.65% year-over-year rise in revenue to $12.33 billion.

The earnings and ratings revisions ahead of quarterly report reflect the evolving nature of business trends. For Nike, Wedbush cut its Q1 2023 EPS, expecting the company to earn $0.89 per share for the quarter, compared to previous estimate of $0.95.

Cowen & Co. maintained Nike at an Outperform rating but slashed the price target from $127 to $124. The firm expects another decline in Nike’s revenue from the China market.

Nike earlier reported its results for the previous quarter on June 27, with better-than-expected earnings.

How to trade Nike’s earnings report?

Traders can benefit from any movement in the stock price before and after the release of Nike’s earnings report even without owning the company’s shares.

You can do so by trading via Share CFDs, which allows you to speculate on future price movements of a stock at a fraction of the cost of owning the shares. You can also trade ETFs and Indices to gain exposure to entire sectors of the equity markets.

Vantage now offers zero commission trading for popular US stock CFDs including Nike.
