Big tech giants in the US; Apple and Amazon are set to announce their earnings for the latest quarter this week. Although rising supply chains issues are expected to have impacted the numbers for the quarter, traders will still keep an eye on the extent of damage these disruptions have had on company performance.
Apple has been seeing significant supply chain disruptions, with the company’s management saying during the fiscal Q2 earnings call that supply shortages might have a much worse impact on the Q3 performance than in Q2.
Analysts are expecting Apple to report quarterly revenue of $82.5 billion, which would be just 1% higher than a year ago, with earnings of $1.15 per share. Apple will release its earnings report on July 28, 2022.
Amazon is also scheduled to release its Q2 earnings on Thursday, July 28, 2022, with analysts expecting revenue of $119.5 billion, just 4% higher than a year ago. Profits for the quarter are expected to come in at $0.16 per share. Markets are projecting a slight year-over-year drop in its core e-commerce business, which is seeing some softness in consumer demand and worsening macroeconomic conditions.
